THE MINUTES OF THE ARLINGTON CEMETERY COMMISSION
April 12, 2007
PRESENT: Commissioners: Michele Hassler and Frank Hurd, Charles Zuccala, Acting Cemetery Supervisor, Cary Coglianese, Boy Scout Troop 306 Leader, Nick Adams, Boy Scout, Paul Adams, parent, Officer Dennis Corbett and Steve Carlson
The meeting started at 9:00 am
1. Nick Adams presented plans for the landscaping of the Vietnam Veteran Monument in the VV section. Funding will be covered and services and material will be donated. Charles Zuccala stated that he measured the area as a 4-corner lot, 10 feet from flagpole. Bushes would be within perimeter 7 ½ feet out in a ½ moon shape. After everyone reviewed the site, the Commissioners agreed to allow the landscaping to occur and to hold off on the benches until the project can be re-evaluated for possible bench placement and where. Work will start on the 28th and 29th of April.
2. Memorial Day clean up notice should be in the Advocate for the first 2 weeks in May. Check to see which flags need to be changed.
3. Public Lot cremation burial was approved.
4. Mr. John DeVito faxed over a letter asking when fee review would occur. Michele called Mr. DeVito and informed him that the fees would be reviewed between June and July 2007.
5. Approval for the transfer of the Canniff lot B-311 was given.
6. Kevin Duffy is ready to start work on restoring and/or cleaning of the stones once the water is turned on. The water department is repairing the broken spigots but problems still arise, as the water system is very old.
7. Frank and Michele were shown the damage to the Chapel. Chapel needs to be repointed and the windows reglazed and caulked. Please make sure the necessary parties are informed of this problem and see what we need to do to have the repairs done.
8. Buy-back price of unused graves will be discussed further when the fees are reviewed in June 2007.
9. 4 deeds were signed and the March minutes were approved.
Meeting Adjourned at 11:12 am and next meeting is scheduled for May 10, 2007
Respectfully Submitted,
Jean Smith
