PRESENT: Commissioners: Bernard Smith, Michele Hassler and Frank Hurd, Jim Dodge, Operations Manager of DPW, Charles Zuccala, Acting Cemetery Supervisor and Cynthia LaRue
The meeting started at 9:07 am
Minutes from May 10, 2007 were approved and 4 deeds were signed.
1. Cynthia La Rue would like to take possession of N-246 and N-247. Only 1 interment done in 1912 with 3 available. Last know relative left for NY years ago and is assumed deceased.
2. Jim Dodge arrived at 9:35am. He does not know if a meeting took place between John Bean and John DeVito.
3. The condition of the cemetery was discussed. A 4year agreement was signed with Prescription Turf to do all sections of the cemetery. This will help control the weeds and fertilize the grass. Not enough help seems to be the ongoing problem of maintaining the grounds. Should we consider community service for high school students?
4. Empty grave situation was reviewed and the Commissioners established a buy-back program to run from July 1 – October 1, 2007. Town Counsel will be notified.
5. Annual fees were reviewed and Perpetual Care fee was raised to $500. Once the buyback program is complete, we will discuss the fee for a new grave in the old section.
6. 3 test holes were dug in the HH field to check water levels to help determine how to use the HH field for burials.
7. Cemetery expansion committee will not meet again till September.
8. Executive session called at 10:45am and ended 11:02am.
