Minutes 01/08/2008
PRESENT:  Commissioners:  Bernard Smith, Michele Hassler and William McCarthy, Lt. Paul Conroy, Arlington Police Dept. and Charles Zuccala, Acting Cemetery Supervisor

The meeting started at 9:07am

One deed was signed

Michele Hassler addressed the traffic flow cutting through the cemetery, especially at an excessive speed.  Lt. Conroy has limited resources and can speeding be enforced if there is no set speed limit.  The Lt. also suggested that closing the bridge may be the best option but did say that a speed bump like the one on Robin Hood Road might work.

Lt. Conroy left the meeting at 9:34am.

Jim Dodge, Operations Manager of DPW joined the meeting.  He suggested we post signs that state the Cemetery is not a thruway and post the speed limit for the visitors.

Discussion of the Saturday burials led to a decision to use the cocoa mats for every funeral, order 18 more if needed.  A letter sent to the Commissioners from Mr. John DeVito, referencing a letter sent to the Town Manager from Rev. Gomes, was discussed.  The Commissioners will respond in writing to the Town Manager and Mr. DeVito.  Jim Dodge will generate a memo to the Town Manager and John Bean, Director of Public Works briefing them on the ongoing conflicts at the Cemetery and Mr. John DeVito.

Minutes for December will be approved next meeting.

Meeting adjourned at 11:05am and the next meeting will be on February 14, 2008.
