Present: Commissioners Bernie Smith, Michele Hassler, Bill McCarthy and Jason Jones, Acting Cemetery Supervisor
The meeting began at 9:10 a.m.
- Two deeds were signed.
- Minutes from September were approved.
- The fence replacement bid closed on October 8, 2008 for $60,000. Fence will be replaced along Willow Avenue from Medford Street, along Brook Avenue to Lake Avenue.
- Michele agrees with the replacement of benches that Jason mapped out. Interested parties would buy a bench recommended by the Cemetery Commissioners. No new benches to be placed in new section.
- Commissioners asked whether new truck driver was hired. They were told no and that we have a temporary driver from the Park Dept.
- ELDCO will do another cutting and stay on top of leaf removal.
- OBG – Town Counsel, Juliana Rice, is handling removal of marker. We will revise the Rules and Regulations in July to state that the Cemetery Commissioners deemed the Old Burying Ground closed to future burials.
- DeSousa marker placed on CC-724 will be removed and placed in the vault for the family to claim. Permission was not granted for the placement of the marker.
