Present: Jason Jones, Acting Supervisor; Teresa DeBenedictis of the ADPW; Bernie Smith, Chairman; Michele Hassler, Commissioner; Karen Gagnon, Office Support
The meeting began at 9:00 a.m. and ended at 10:08 a.m.
1. Discussed ecologically friendly casket company now in Arlington. Michele will go and check this new place out incase we get requests for this product in the future.
2. Discussed with Teresa re: town and cemetery finances and clarifications for past line items in the budget as compared to the most recent budget.
3. Discussed the RFP situation with Cooke’s Hollow. Currently the RFP’s are being reviewed and will be discussed at a future date.
4. Discussed the possibility of green burials in the HH field. Michele will look further into this and discuss the possibility with the ConCom for their thoughts.
5. Michele will call Mt. Auburn Cemetery as they are doing an experiment with a casket from the company in #1. The company is called Mourning Dove and is based in Arlington Center.
6. We all admired the new carpet in the chapel. Thanks to Commissioner Bill McCarthy.
7. Teresa will also check out Mourning Dove at the Eco-fest being held in Arlington on April 28, 2009 in the DPW yard.
8. Reviewed a letter from Ms. Bigelow asking for help in locating family members. Jean will assist her in directing her to call the Archdiocese, as we believe the family members are in St. Paul’s Cemetery and not here in Mt. Pleasant.
9. Discussed the DeSousa Family situation: the family is willing to move the husband from the family grave into a cremains grave in Mt. Pleasant. Then the stone we are holding can be used. Mr. DeSousa said he would call the sister-in-law to discuss with her and to see if this is acceptable to her and her daughter. We will await an update on this.
Next meeting will be held on April 9, 2009.
Respectfully submitted,
Michele Hassler
