Present: Commissioners Michele Hassler and William McCarthy, Acting Supervisor, Jason Jones.
The meeting began at 9:17 a.m. and ended at 10:20 a.m.
1. Deeds were signed.
2. Minutes were approved from last month’s meeting.
3. Discussed plans for landscapers to start getting the grounds ready for Memorial Day. Also discussed crew’s plan for what needed to be done.
4. Bill discussed the proper process of flag disposal for the veteran’s graves in order to put down the new flags.
5. Jason would like to close the cemetery off at 6 a.m. on Memorial Day rather than earlier to cut down on need for overtime.
6. Reviewed Kevin Duffy’s proposals for the next phase of his stone restoration work. Michele will e-mail him that we are ok with his assessments and plans.
7. We discussed Green Burial options for the HH field, full body vs. cremains. Michele discussed her meetings with the eco-friendly casket place here in Arlington, Mourning Dove, as well as her meeting with the ConCom.
8. ConCom receptive to the idea of Green Burials but wary of the phosphorous that leaches into the soil of a full body burial as it feeds invasive plants. They a re to investigate that more and get back to us in a month or so. Michele also did some investigating re: that issue. Further info and discussion is needed for us before any other decisions are made. Continue to have this item up for discussion.
9. Discussed what is to happen to front gate for repairs before Memorial Day. Jason unsure of plans. We will check with Jim Dodge about this.
