Committee Openings
The Town of Arlington is seeking individuals to serve as members of the following Committee/Commission/Board.

By serving on a Town Committee/Commission/Board you'll make a valuable contribution to the community of Arlington and meet other residents who share similar interests. Even if you cannot serve on a committee all Arlington residents are welcome to attend any of the many committee meetings held. You can view the Town Meetings Calendar here.


The Town seeks qualified candidate for a vacancy on the Arlington Redevelopment Board. Candidates with experience in civil or structural engineering, real estate development, land use planning, or community development are especially encouraged to apply. The ARB is the Town’s planning board, urban renewal authority, board of survey, and special permit granting authority for Environmental Design Review. Current ARB members include an architect, a landscape architect, and two attorneys. The Arlington Historic District Commissions are seeking to fill vacancies for Commissioners serving on the Jason/Gray, Mt Gilboa/Crescent Hill, and Broadway Historic District Commissions.   Arlington’s Historic Districts were created to protect and preserve the town’s architectural resources through a system of local review that encourages and ensures compatible improvement and development.  The Commissions typically meet once a month at the Whittemore-Robbins House (behind Robbins Library). Preference is given to residents or property owners in those Districts, but all interested Arlington residents are encouraged to submit a letter of interest and resume to Carol Greeley, Executive Secretary, Arlington Historic District Commissions, c/o Planning Department, 730 Mass. Utility Pole Working Group (5 vacancies)
The Board of Selectmen is seeking 5 Arlington residents to serve as members of the Utility Pole Working Group (new group). The charge of the working group will be to compile inventories of identified maintenance and/or safety issues relating to utility poles and overhead wires throughout town.  This inventory shall be presented to the Board of Selectmen at least annually and will be transmitted by the Board to responsible utility providers for follow-up and further action, as described in relevant policies of the Board of Selectmen.  The Town of Arlington is seeking to fill a vacancy on the Trust Fund Commission. The Board manages and distributes the income of trust funds under their jurisdiction in accordance with the terms of the respective trusts. A member should have a solid understanding of the purposes of trust funds; a basic understanding of the investment needs of trust funds and the need to balance income requirements with maintaining principal; and a basic understanding of the social purpose of the various funds and the need to maintain the long-term viability of the trust funds.
