Arlington Fire Prevention Division is required by law to enforce the provisions of 527 CMR (Commonwealth of Massachusetts Regulation); the laws contained in Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 148, the State Building Code; 780 CMR; and the bylaws of the Town of Arlington. The key responsibilities and elements of a comprehensive fire prevention program include public education, enforcement of fire codes and
ordinances, pre-construction plan review, issuance of permits, property inspection, evaluating built-in fire protection systems, and the investigation of all fires.
