Community Development Block Grant Meetings Announced
Application Form Now Available.
The Board of Selectmen will convene on Monday, February 11, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. to review current year program accomplishments and on Monday, March 10, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. to accept proposals for Program Year 34, which commences July 1, 2008. Both meetings will be held in the Selectmen's Meeting Room, 2nd floor of Town Hall.
The hearing to be held on February 11th offers an opportunity to detail current year program performance and accomplishments to the Board of Selectmen and the general public.
The second hearing scheduled for March 10th will be to accept proposals for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for the program year beginning July 1, 2008. This will also be held in the Selectmen's Meeting Room. The Town expects to receive approximately $1,300,000 in new grant funds for CDBG Year 34. Applicants will present their proposals and requests for funding at this time. All requests for funds must be submitted in writing using the Funding Application Form, which you can download here or picked up at the Planning Department, Town Hall.
In order for a CDBG activity to be eligible for funding, it must meet one of three national objectives: (1) the activity principally benefits persons of low or moderate income; (2) the activity is designed specifically to aid in the prevention or elimination of slums and blight; and (3) the activity is intended to meet other community development needs having a particular urgency because existing conditions pose a serious and immediate threat to the health or welfare of the community, where other financial resources are not available to meet such needs. The Funding Application Form should be reviewed by the Department of Planning and Community Development prior to the hearing to ensure that the proposed programs and activities are eligible under HUD regulations.
Submission Guidelines
Please prepare twelve (12) copies of your proposal. We request that you deliver your proposal to the Department of Planning and Community Development by March 4 so that we may submit your request to the Board of Selectmen prior to the meeting. All applications must be received before the close of the hearing.
If you have any questions concerning eligibility of proposed projects or require any assistance preparing your proposal, please contact Anna Whitten, Grants Administrator at (781) 316-3096.
