The Town of Arlington is in the process of completing a Consolidated Plan -  FY 2009/2010 Annual Action Plan of our Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program for submission to the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The Annual Action Plan carries out the objectives of the Five Year Consolidated Plan.  In order to receive CDBG funds, the Consolidated Plan must be consistent with the primary objective of Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended, which is to develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing, a suitable living environment and expanding economic opportunities, principally for persons of low and moderate income.

The Town expects to receive approximately $1,300,000 in new grant funds from HUD for our Community Development Block Grant Program Year 35 (July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010).  Based on the requests for funds, monies will be allocated for Rehabilitation/Housing purposes, for Public Service programs, for Public Facilities and Improvement projects, for planning projects and for General Administration purposes.  A final budget, based on these recommendations, will be presented to 2009 Town Meeting.

The Draft Annual Action Plan as well as copies of the proposals for requests of funds received at the public hearing on March 9, 2009, and the Five Year Consolidated Plan, are now available for review in the Department of Planning and Community Development at the Arlington Town Hall.

The Draft Annual Action Plan may also be viewed online here.  Interested parties are encouraged to review and comment on the Draft Annual Action Plan.  Comments may be sent in writing before May 15, 2009, to the Department of Planning & Community Development, 730 Massachusetts Avenue, Arlington, MA 02476.
